DENNIS W. POTTER
Founder, President, & Lead Pastor

Dennis W. Potter was born on June 28, 1971. By the age of fourteen, he was removed from his home by the welfare department for domestic physical and mental abuse by his dad. He was called to preach the gospel at seventeen after having a powerful encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and being saved. Early in his Christian life, Dennis learned that truth brings persecution and decided he wanted no part of that. Shortly after making this decision and for the next thirty-two years his life was a downward spiral. Dennis was voted most likely to succeed by his high school classmates, Alabama Boy's State Governor 1989, awarded a four-year scholarship to Samford University, and planned to become a criminal defense attorney although God had called him to preach. He was divorced from his wife by his sophomore year in college and spiraled further out of control with the loss of his wife and son. He dropped out of college and joined the United States Army during the 1st Gulf War with the 25th Infantry. Dennis was a good soldier and graduated several infantry schools to include the Ranger Indoctrination Program, Air Assault School, and was a Combat Lifesaver for his platoon. By this time, Dennis was a full fledge alcoholic. Running from the pain of the past and present, Dennis found escape and numbing of the pain through crack cocaine. From 2001-2019 Dennis attended fourteen treatment centers and made several failed attempts at recovery, even pastoring a church in Mobile, and starting a recovery program called "The Way".

Out of the grief, pain, experience, strength, and hope of this nineteen-year battle to break the chains of addiction he planted OutCast Ministries in 2020. He promised God that He would never turn back if God would give him another shot at his calling and this is it. Dennis would be the first to tell you that God does not call the qualified but qualifies the called. Our pastor has a passion for the OutCast, broken, homeless, and addicted. His motto is "Nobody left behind!"
